History of the Hospital

Distinguished by a highly specialized and unsurpassed expertise, Shriners Hospitals for Children-Mexico City provides comprehensive care to children with orthopaedic and neuromuscoloskeletal conditions. The hospital does not charge patients or their families for the child's care and relies on the generosity of donors to carry out its mission and provide care for children every day.

The Mexico City Shriners Hospital is part of the Shriners Hospitals health care system, which has 22 hospitals throughout North America treating orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate. An interdisciplinary approach is used in patient care programs to ensure comprehensive care for each patient. The staff includes orthopaedists, surgeons and pediatricians, as well as other medical specialists.

The purpose of Shriners Hospitals for Children is to help children lead fuller, more productive lives. By promoting the importance of the family and helping it become a stronger support system for the child, Shriners can accomplish its purpose more effectively.
